M.Sc Five Year Integrated Programmes

Its partnership with the industry through a strong alumni network and internships provided me with work experience even before I graduated laying the foundation for a rapid growth within the industry. Above all, I experienced a strong culture of togetherness with my seniors, juniors and faculties and made memories that I will cherish forever.

The M.Sc. Software Engineering programme at PSG Tech went a long way in helping me strengthen my basics in all areas of Computer Science and Software Engineering. It was unique in the sense that it simultaneously laid emphasis on the core courses like Theoretical Computer Science and Mathematics as well as a plethora of electives. Such a format helps one become strong in the fundamentals as well as develop areas of interest in topics of one's interest. Hence I feel it is the best programme if one wishes to pursue higher (doctoral) studies in the field of Computer Science.

The programmes focus on providing students with strong fundamentals in computer science and many specialisation areas which are well sought out in the industry. I had the opportunity to learn and work with security researchers and faculties in the department which encouraged me to learn more about security and helped make a career out of it. I feel lucky to have studied here and I am thankful to the professors who guided me along the way. I am really glad the department is offering a cybersecurity programme that has been meticulously designed with inputs from many security professionals which will help the students prepare for real-world security.

I consider myself most fortunate to have received top class education in M.Sc Software Engineering from PSG College of Technology. The five year integrated course has time and again helped me to strengthen my career and improve my life. I would strongly advice any youngster with passion for knowledge and growth to get benifitted by this amazing course and the wonderful staff of the department.

One of the first things you notice is that the department is filled with dedicated and enthusiastic faculty who are willing to go above and beyond in assisting students with their curriculum and general welfare. The head of the department is an inspiration to all students and does a great job of motivating the students and faculty to work towards a greater vision. Being in the first batch of Theoretical Computer Science, the department provided enormous encouragement and support while navigating the uncertainties during our 5 years. The department continues to produce world-class professionals and in hindsight, I am very fortunate to have received my education here. The department also has a strong research programme. I have had the fortune of working with many cyber security researchers in the department and their guidance during my initial days have molded me to be a researcher in cyber security. The department is growing in strength and is transforming to be a premier center for research in cyber security.

The course gave me immense opportunities to learn the right skills and connect with the right people, be it researchers or industry professionals. The curriculum is carefully curated to provide the technical knowledge and foundation needed to tackle, adapt and grow in a rapidly evolving field like Data Science. The two internships gave me the perfect opportunity to explore both research and industry and helped me find my calling.

MSc Data Science programme at PSG Tech is one of the frontiers to data science programmes across the country. With a meticulously designed curriculum and highly proficient faculties in the field of data science, this programme is paving its way to cater the needs of the industry. Opportunity to take part in two 6 month-long internships and a summer internship adds merit to the programme and personally, it helped me to work on various technologies during my academic tenure. That said, I consider joining the data science programme to be one of the finest decisions of my life.

The opportunities for data science were just blooming and the word started making rounds when I joined MSc. Data Science. For someone who wanted to get into the field of engineering, this programme provided a larger exposure, and better opportunity to step into the world in terms of career building, apart from removing you from the rat race of the conventional engineering degree paths. A well-defined course structure with constant upgradation to keep up with the industrial requirements, a very like-minded, handpicked peer group and the two internship opportunities in well-known organizations provides a deep learning curve and the ability to face the real world in a much better way be it in academia or in the industries. The strong alumni network is another reason for the success of the course who provide us with insights on how the industry works on the go. I am glad to have been a part of this programme, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

The fact that Goldman Sachs, one of the premier investment banks in the world, recruits only MSc (SE) students from PSG Tech speaks volumes about the course. Students get placed into top class companies literally during the 7th semester when they undertake their first internship. The fact that they have industry exposure even before they attend their first interview gives them that extra edge over the students of other courses. The course also offers classes in Accountancy that facilitate students a lot especially when they enter into the world of finance. The course focuses a lot on encouraging students to hone their Practical and Analytical skills unlike other courses which just offer theoretical knowledge. Anytime, I would prefer M.Sc Software Engineering in PSG over other courses.

The course created the right conceptual base for going into research or academia with ease. Many in my class were exposed to the latest research, collaborating with top institutes nationally and globally, opening us to a wide array of fields and opportunities. I can say beyond doubt that the alumni network is a core strength from day 1. Three years after graduating, I still stay connected and the department does a fine job in creating a culture of 'paying it forward'

The programme is packed with a lot of wide-range of courses that lay a strong foundation to stand out among others. I appreciate how approachable and positive our teachers were, motivating to work on my goals. The great balance between theory and practical work helped fit into the industry quickly.

M.Sc(Data Science) programme is a perfect mix of mathematical and programming concepts. Especially, the statistics courses were tailored into the syllabus to make the students industry ready. The two internships were testing arenas where we could transform the theoretical knowledge to gain practical experience. Thinking back, I am proud of the decision that I had chosen this course at the right time.

MSc Theoretical Computer Science program is a perfect combination of courses that lays a solid foundation to pursue a career in computer science. The department has a strong faculty team who ardently support us to pursue our interest even outside the curriculum, bringing out the best in us. I was fortunate to get opportunities to work in both academia and industry with the two internships. Working on real world problems and with world class researchers while in college is an experience unmatched. The department itself attracts interesting folks. I had great fun learning things together, working on projects, presentations and organizing events, it definitely was an all-rounded experience.

Various aspects of the course that stood out to me was, The course is structured in a way that provides both the understanding of fundamental concepts in computer science and also introducing to the technologies driving the modern world. Apart from learning theoretical concepts, the project works as a part of lab components on various technologies, helped us to gain in depth knowledge about them. Doing a 6 months internship allowed us to identify our domain, strengths and weaknesses thereby helping me to prepare myself better for placements in that domain.

My decision to pursue research in TCS is the culmination of experiences in college, mainly through coursework, projects, and internships. The faculty were very supportive of my goals. Thanks to the environment created by everyone in the department, it was a good experience overall.

M.Sc. Software Systems is the perfect program for a software enthusiast. A regularly updated curriculum together with project works to enhance theoretical knowledge, a strong alumni network, and industry experience via internships make this course one of a kind. The faculties are always ready to help and motivate the students to pursue their field of interest. Overall, it has been a great learning experience for me.

To say that my time at PSG Tech was a great would be an understatement. Me along with all my peers unanimously agree that the college and AMCS department have played a large part in making us who we are today. I entered college as an uncertain biology student and with the help of the amazing faculty and alumni support I left as a transformed individual ready to take up a job as a Data Scientist at an MNC. If you have any second thoughts on whether this course is right for you, jump right in without inhibitions and I’m sure this is the best decision you would make!

I feel lucky to have chosen M.Sc. Software Systems in PSG Tech. It was a unique experience in that it focused a lot on fundamental subjects while offering a wide range of electives. I appreciate all of the faculty members who were willing to assist at any moment. They played a critical part in any success I have achieved so far. I shall be thankful to them for providing me with a platform for practical learning and preparing me for a life in the corporate world.

It is truly a blessing to be part of the Data Science course offered by AMCS department. The curriculum is well designed with proper assignments, course structure and also includes research paper writings. The faculties are very friendly, always ready to help and encourages to explore more. In addition to all the theoretical classes, the lab classes and projects done as part of each semester prepares us for the real world. Placement opportunities are great and the department helps to strengthen our knowledge by arranging various tech talks, hackathon and many other activities.

My time spent at the PSG tech campus is what I would call a holistic learning experience. My major (M.Sc Data Science integrated) helped me nurture a strong foundation in the field. The constant upgradation of the curriculum and the diverse elective courses offered, helped me to understand my specific areas of interest and equipped me with the skills required to further pursue my domain. The Data Science course exclusively offers a good grip on statistics, programming languages and in-depth data science concepts with prior mathematical courses. Our department provides excellent lab facilities that are available around the clock and persistently encourage students to explore the broad research spectrums in data science.

MSc Theoretical Computer Science, true to its name, provides an exemplary foundation in every subdomain under computer science while maintaining a solid mathematical foundation. It allows each student to explore and specialize in their area of interest with a holistic approach. The Integrated Masters course is a great place to start a career in computer science and mathematics. The Department (AMCS) creates an environment where the student feels motivated and encourages them to explore beyond what is taught in the class. One of the best things about the program is the mandatory internships which provide the student with experience before taking on full-time work. I was fortunate to be surrounded by positive, hardworking and supportive people pushing me to my best.

The five year integrated M.Sc Theoretical Computer Science program has a rich curriculum with a deep dive into its various courses. The courses are uniquely designed and industry centric which make us well equipped for our professional career. The research oriented syllabus and guidance from faculties help us in seamlessly exploring the R&D industry.The kind of exposure that I got from this program was immense and exceptional.This course has provided me with a wonderful platform to shape up a successful career in the industry.

Pursuing Cyber Security is indeed a great experience with friendly seniors and encouraging faculties who motivate us to balance extra curriculars as well as academics and guide us to chase our dreams.
